Petition 1: Agree reciprocal 2 year EU Youth Work Visas

This petition has now closed, but campaigning will continue later in 2022!

https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/594186

The Government should seek to negotiate reciprocal arrangements with European states to allow young Britons & Europeans to obtain the equivalent of Temporary Worker Visas (T5). This would allow these young folk to travel, work & learn about the UK & Europe (max 2yrs), just like Australians, Canadians, Japanese, Koreans, Taiwanese, etc, can.

Maintain and develop cultural, language and educational exchange between Great Britain and European countries. At the same time providing young, enthusiastic and ambitious British and European people with the opportunity to work in other countries during their GAP years. Helping in sectors like the NHS and Social Care in the Community (e.g. live-in carers), Hospitality, Childcare (e.g. au–pairs) & Agricultural sectors, etc.. Such temporary work should not increase net immigration

Petition 2: Let disabled recruit foreign live-in carers

This petition has now closed, but campaigning will continue later in 2022!

https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/594747

Enable disabled people with care needs to apply for a sponsorship licence and visas for live-in home carers from abroad. To do this, the Home Office needs to treat the disabled person as an approved employer and recognise live-in carers as a permitted occupation for this visa.

In 2019/20, the UK had around 112,000 social care vacancies. A live-in carer is classified as unskilled and is on call 24/7. It is a physically and mentally exhausting role requiring stamina, patience and kindness. They need to live in someone else’s home away from their own home, family, partner and social circle. It is not a popular job in the UK. The dependent disabled need to recruit abroad, be self-reliant, spend 100% of budget on actual care and avoid agency fees.
